Grow Food Don't Throw Food Module

Build food literacy, food appreciation, and culinary confidence.

Grow Food Don't Throw Food is an interactive digital education module that empowers
grade 4-7 students to understand food systems and take action against food waste. Through engaging, projection-ready activities, students explore where food comes from, how it connects to climate and the natural world, and discover practical preservation methods and planet friendly snacks to help prevent food waste.

This module has four lessons and a final reflection, plus an optional (but highly recommended) hands-on kitchen day.

How This Module Works

Getting started

Teach the four lessons in order, then the Final Reflection. The Optional Kitchen Day (Apple Sandwiches) is a recommended hands-on extra.

Start with the 'Before You Begin' guide, then read each lesson's short facilitation guide for timing and prep.

In the classroom

To display a lesson, click into it and use the full-screen button (bottom right; Esc to exit). Click Continue to move through activities.

Progress bars count optional items too, so less than 100% is normal.

When you're done, fill in the student and teacher feedback forms in the Final Reflection. Questions? online@elements-society.org
